Journal: I got up at about 8am and slowly prepared myself for the trip to the airport.  During a phone call from a friend I noticed that my front tyre was flat, which was a pain in the butt.  I struggled with my bad hands to get the tyre off but eventually managed.  I found a microscopic hole but decided to replace the tube anyway.  I left the motel at 10:30am and was surprised how warm and humid it was.  The ride to the airport was longer than hoped (~10km) and I was bathed in sweat by the time I got there.  I had worn my travelling clothes because I had expected to be able to check my bike and baggage then take a bus into town.  Unfortunately, I struck out on everything.  I couldn't check anything until two hours before the flight, i.e., 11:30pm, and there were no baggage storage facilities at the airport and there was no bus into town!  After pondering for a while I changed into my spare biking gear in the garden outside and then rode into town, still with all of my gear.  I then had some brunch and walked around town with my bike for a few hours.  There was a breeze and it wasn't too hot, especially in the shade.  In mid-afternoon I rode out to Mindil Beach where it looked like they were just setting up for the evening market (the family and I went there when in Darwin two years ago).  So I decided to return later and went across to the Botanical Gardens where I had a pleasant walk around.  I then returned to Mindil Beach, watched the sunset and people, and bought some food for dinner.  I then left at 7:30pm and rode out to the airport which took about an hour in the dark slowly along the bike path.  Then I packed my gear into my travel bag and killed the remaining three hours listening to the cricket, reading and updating my trip notes.
